Green is more than the color of your roof. Vande Hey Raleigh offers the following attributes to contribute to your green home or building
- Energy Efficiency
- The air space under tile creates natural ventilation from the eave to ridge, reducing heat transfer to the attic by nearly 50% (Oak Ridge National Laboratory testing) resulting in reduced air conditioning costs.
- Sustainability/Durability
- Tiles are non-combustible, pest-resistant, will not rot in wet climates, resist harsh weather (including hail to 1¾”) and have a limited lifetime warranty. While initially more expensive, the life cycle cost can actually be less since other roofing materials will need to replaced 2-3 times over the lifetime of a building.
- Recyclability/Recycled Content
- Materials used in VHR tile are biodegradable. Vande Hey mixes recycled Iron Ore Slag (20%) with the cement used to make all tile.
- Moisture control
- When properly installed, Vande Hey’s flashing system directs water away from walls and protrusions and to the eave/gutter, reducing the chance of leaks.
- Less Construction Waste
- By fabricating flashings to length and providing all materials required in one package, Vande Hey’s complete roof system can generate less scrap and eliminate extra labor to fabricate flashings and less trips by your installer to pick up that 1 item that someone forgot.
- Renewable
- Raw materials used to produce concrete tile do not deplete limited natural resources (including petroleum products).
- Reflectivity
- Concrete has reflective properties that are enhanced by adding slag to the mix. This reflectivity also helps stop heat transfer to the attic space.
